Fall is the time of year that we can enjoy a variety of sweet apple treats while we’re camping. There are a huge variety of desserts and snacks you can make with this tasty fruit. Most of us love apples and this time of year they taste even better.
Apple Chips – This is is a healthy snack and a favorite of kids everywhere. You don’t need a dehydrator and can make these in the oven. You’ll need apples, sugar, and cinnamon. That’s it! Slice the apples real thin and toss them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. Put them on a cooling rack which you set on your baking sheet. This will allow the warm air of the oven to circulate around the slices and dry them evenly. You’ll bake them at 200 degrees for about two or three hours. Once done, you can pack them in a resealable bag. They will serve as delicious snacks on the road or around the campfire.

Apple Pie Fries – You had better make extra of these because they won’t last long. You’ll be making an apple mixture with finely chopped apples, lemon juice, brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt. Cook this until the apples get tender and then let the mixture cool. You’ll spread this between two layers of ready-made pie dough. Then cut into strips and cut those strips into smaller sections. You’ll bake them for about 20 minutes and you can dip them in caramel sauce for added delish!
Turtle Apple Pops – These are amazingly good. Slice your apples into 1/2” slices and insert a popsicle stick into a small slit in the bottom. Dip them in melted chocolate and sprinkle them with chopped pecans. Let them set up in the fridge and then drizzle with caramel sauce. Pop them back in the fridge for about 5 minutes and they are ready to eat.
